Galeon Owners Club
Every year a fleet of Galeons ties up together and the weekend belongs to the people who own them. That is the Galeon Owners Club, a community every Galeon owner already belongs to. Dinner and dancing, a cookout on the sand, twenty yachts in line for a parade along the coast. Nobody signs up. If a Galeon is on your mind, this is part of what comes with it.
The Galeon Owners Rendezvous
Galeon owners in the United States meet once a year at the Galeon Owners Rendezvous. The destination changes, and it is always somewhere the fleet can reach under its own power: Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, Harbour Island in the Bahamas, Key West at the bottom of the Keys.
The days belong to the water. Owners run out through the Out Islands, find a beach, and come back for a cookout on the sand while the boats sit at anchor behind them. Someone always stays out longer. Evenings are the Galeon Owners Dinner, long tables and dancing that goes past dessert.
The Fleet Sails Past the Shipyard That Built It
Every Galeon starts on the Bay of Gdańsk. When the European owners gather here, the boats come back to the water they were launched into, and their owners get a weekend on it together.
Three cities share this bay, and the fleet can reach all of them between breakfast and dinner. Gdańsk has the shipyard and the old town. Sopot and Gdynia are a short run up the coast, sandy the whole way, and the boats move between them without anyone touching a road.
The parade is what everyone remembers. Twenty and more Galeons run the coast in a single line, owners and guests on deck, the whole fleet moving at one speed. For most of these boats it is the one weekend of the year they are in company. Galeon brings the newest models along, so part of the day goes on boats nobody has stepped on before.
